So many changes from long ago to 2007. I can’t tell you what has changed, but I know there is much different about this ride, especially at the end as you climb up to finish the ride.
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for “updating” rides when needed, but not “changing” Disney’s designs.
1:45 so i thought that part was added in after all the changes but i guess i must have missed it the first time i went on it
it’s crazy all the cool stuff they can do with rides now

The editing in this video is really weird, but I guess that’s the 60′s for you. I actually think the way it is now is better than the way it used to be. I know it’s just Disney trying to make a quick buck off of the success of the movie, but the things they added in the ride weren’t just thrown together. They were well made and done with some effort. Not to mention there are a lot more pirates in there now.
i cant stand that they put the crap from the movie in the ride.
i also like how parents bring their kids to disney land to share “their” disneyland with their kids, when the park isnt even the same park it was. its changed SO much since i remember going every summer when i was a kind back in 1989…. i like it even better then the kid wants to do something fun that the parents dont want to do and they SCREAM at the kid “no you can see mickey!! we’re going to go on dumbo & youre gonna like it!!”
Are they? I went there just last week too (how much *** do annual passes kick?? XD), and all I saw were the pirates chasing women because they were carrying treasure. While bringing back the original chase scene would be great, CAN they go back to an older motif since they just upgraded the ride to be more movie-inclusive?
Have you noticed they are slowely bringing the original back? Last Monday I went and one chase was centered around treasure, the other about the original, and the other about food.
I think this video was from a Wonderful World of Disney Sunday night telecast that also showcased the New Tomorrowland. I was 8 years old when this was broadcast. Wow what a time machine…
WOw! Thanks for posting this. I first rode Pirates back in 1968. We lived in Texas and I literally talked about Disneyland from morning to night for over a year until my dad caved in and took us. Two days before we visited the park Robert Kennedy was assassinated.
eh, I saw it less as cashing in on a film’s success and more as giving in to public demand. From what i’ve heard, lots of people started asking “Where’s Jack” so, they gave the public what they wanted.
PS. I **** the political correctness of the ride too. PC pirates are POINTLESS!!

Am I the only here who thinks the Jolly Roger at the beginning should have been voiced by Paul Frees?
I wish they could have left the chase scene just the way it was.

19There’s a few more scenes that aren’t shown in the video, but you pretty much saw the whole ride here.

21You should take out the “added special effects” so that people can see the actuall original version!
